WOOP!
Not really anything finished per say, since last post, but a lot going on, and I mean besides summer shenanigans!
Redgirl is still slowly rolling around. More really annoying hair issues. With nHair I can get the hair to render with the cache in the render view, but not in the batch render. WTH! A batch render view plug in gets around it but geesh! Also the lack of a ramp on hair collisions is really really annoying to deal with. The hair looks more way more frizzy than curly without being able to ramp the curl's collision thickness along with the curl thickness. If I ramp the curls than the hair has gaps or collides through itself weirdly because the collision is uniform. And I really don't have the time to deal with a ton of time styling them or trying to add in a filler system or anything right now, so its just frizzy. Bleh.
Also had some issues with fizzling where the skirt connect to the top of the dress. But the cloth looks super pretty with a little wind on it and a bit of texturing! I wanna touch it.
She's rendering right now on her first full beauty pass for a turntable. Should be done tomorrow and I can throw up a still maybe(really won't do the ncloth justice though).
And then, I've nearly watched every free AE tutorial on Video Copilot. Hoping to use some techniques I've learned on a new title for demo reel once my computer isn't using tons of RAM for rendering maya frames.
Speaking of titles, messed around some text stuff in an older version of maya (2010), and made a purposely tacky and cheap title sequence in the style of an old trashy action movie. Not something that I would show employers, but it was fun and I learned a little bit about things I could do with type quickly in Maya. Here's the youtube vid. I warned you it was tacky!
Re-looked through Match Mover, semi-planning to get back on working on my magical origami fish themed video I shot less than a year ago. Only one shot would need tracking, but it looks like there will definitely be some hand animating of the camera going on to match some part of the shot. But, now I know how to better shoot for integrating with CG elements.
And Video Games! While the main computer renders and renders on, I've been re-teaching myself Unity and started doing some game programming the last week or so. Its another side project I had starting planning out a couple of months ago. Nothing too advanced. In fact I finished coding and testing the hardest element today. Soon I can move on to making real assets instead of stand in blocks.
Lastly, a few friends of mine have been plotting a fantasy web series to which I have planned to at least do titles if not more special effects. Hopefully they will have the kickstarter for it up soon. They already got lots of costumes and locations and even some fighting choreography planned out!
Told you I have a lot going on! Gotta keep busy until someone wants to pay me for something. (It would be nice if someone paid me for something. Keeping cool this summer is so not cheap)
Anyway, if there's anyone out there, some stuff will start appearing soon, and it will likely be a lot of stuff, so stay tuned!
